Citizens for a Safer Minnesota Education Fund

Citizens for a Safer Minnesota Education Fund (CSMEF) is a state based, nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce gun violence. Using a public health approach that emphasizes prevention, we educate the public about the causes of gun violence and advocate for sound public policy based on medical and public health research.

Our goals include protecting children, preventing suicide and unintentional injury, keeping guns out of the wrong hands, and setting health and safety standards for gun manufacturers. In order to accomplish our goals, CSMEF must change cultural attitudes toward norms regarding firearms, increase the public’s intensity of feeling in support for change, and convince Minnesotans that effective change is possible.
