How the Auction Works

Bidding on a "Come Together to Free America From Gun Violence" auction item is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Register with eBay: To bid or buy a "Come Together" auction item you must first register with eBay. Click here to register.

2. To bid on an item directly from the "Come Together" homepage:

• Find the item you would like to bid on and click on the link. You can search for items by item category or destination category, or by scrolling down the entire list of items on the main page. Not every auction item is up for bid at the same time. If the auction for an individual item is live, it will say "bid now". If you found an item that is not currently "live" for bidding, it will provide you with information about when the item bidding begins.
• Once you have clicked on the item link, you will be forwarded to eBay and the live "Come Together" auction item. On the item page, you will be provided with the item title, number of bids, current bid pricing and time left to bid. Clicking on the item title will give you a detailed description of the item.
• Place your bid. Please be sure to indicate your maximum bid amount. If others bid against you for the same item, eBay will automatically bid for you until you reach your maximum bid amount.

Once you have placed your bid, you will need to check back to the auction during the duration of the item to see if you have placed the winning bid.

3. To bid on an item directly through eBay:

• Using the search function near the top of the main page, type in the name of the item you are looking for or search by category. Make sure it is a "Come Together" auction item you are bidding on. (Note: Search by keyword for listings marked with the charity icon.)
• Once you have clicked on the item link, you will be provided with the item title, number of bids, current bid pricing and time left to bid. Clicking on the item title will give you a detailed description of the item.
• Place your bid. Please be sure to indicate your maximum bid amount. If others bid against you for the same item, eBay will automatically bid for you until you reach your bid maximum.

Once you have placed your bid, you will need to check back to the auction during the duration of the item to see if you have placed the winning bid.

Winning Bids:

If you have submitted the winning bid once the auction closes on an item, you will be contacted by eBay and by a "Come Together" auction representative. You can pay for your "Come Together" auction item via credit card using eBay's PayPal service. You can also pay for your auction item via money order or check. Checks and money orders must be received and processed before the item is shipped to the winning bidder.

How do I get my items?

Once the auction closes on an item and you have placed the winning bid, you will be contacted by eBay and by a "Come Together" auction" representative. A "Come Together" auction representative will ship the item to you upon receiving payment.

Who Pays for Shipping Costs?

Shipping is included in the final price (final price plus shipping). Each item will have a shipping and handling fee included which covers the estimated costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. Winning bidders pay the total amount (winning bid amount plus shipping) via eBay's PayPal, or by check or money order. Prior to bidding on an item, be sure that you're clear and comfortable with the shipping details or ask us for clarification. If you'd like us to insure the item when shipping it to you, please check with us ahead of time.

Do I receive a tax deduction?

If you purchase an item on the "Come Together" auction, you may claim a charitable contribution deduction for any amount paid over the fair market value of the item you have purchased. Buyers may not deduct shipping and handling charges for purchased items. It is best to consult a tax professional or the IRS if you have questions or when in doubt.
